1980 Mercedes-Benz 300SD turbo diesel. Runs and drives nicely. Was a “daily driver”-type car in regular use before owner moved away.
Recently painted (to match the original metallic sage green) and repaired, with work and service done by Redline Engineering, in Canaan, NY.
The SD is the luxury (S-class, 116 chassis series) version of the turbo-diesel, with a larger body and more luxury features than the 300D’s most people have. 1980 is the last year of this body style, with solid metal door handles and the classic profile, and the first year of the GM air conditioner. These diesel cars can go to 250k miles, so should be many years of driving left.
Original owners manual included. Leather upholstery. Upgraded stereo, speakers, amplifier and trunk mounted bazooka. Upgraded with European headlamps in USA housings. The odometer currently reads 220,000 miles. Climate control electronic operating system upgraded. Factory alloy wheels and recent tires. Factory fog lights.
The most recent owner purchased this car in Texas in 1997 (bought from a broker who bought it from the original owner in OK) and fully refurbished it in Texas. It was driven up to NY and then sold to a friend of the owner for several years, and then purchased back by the same owner, who had Redline Engineering do the necessary work to get it back in shape.
This is a beautiful and classic Mercedes, elegant, imposing, and fun to drive.
